About the Keymorada Event

The 2013 Sabadell Keymorada Invitational Fishing Tournament to benefit The Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America (CCFA) is proud to announce that it has raised over $510,000 for the CCFA and to help start the first Crohn's & Colitis Center in South Florida, at the University of Miami. Along with its numerous Sponsors, over 150 law firms throughout Florida and the United States have joined forces to raise awareness of Crohn’s Disease and Ulcerative Colitis. These law firms, which usually go head to head in the courtroom, have found common ground in the battle against these debilitating diseases that often afflict children. The 2013 LexisNexis Law Firm Challenge Champion was Greenberg Traurig, LLP.

The Tournament is the brainchild of two brothers, Mitchell and Glenn Widom, attorneys in Miami with Bilzin Sumberg and Glenn L. Widom, P.A., who founded the event in 2005 after Mitch’s daughter, Taylor, was diagnosed with Crohn's. Together with Co-Chairs Alicia Widom and Ellen Shapiro, and thanks to the incredible support of the Tournament’s Sponsors, Participants and Guides, the Keymorada has raised over $3.5 million for the CCFA and the UM Crohn's & Colitis Center."

Mitch Howell of Ft. Lauderdale is the 2013 Keymorada Grand Champion and in addition to a beautiful trophy has received an invitation to the prestigious IGFA Championship Series. Captain Steve Leopold of Yabba-Dabba-Doo in Islamorada out of the Postcard Inn Marina (formerly Holiday Isle) received top honors as the 2013 Keymorada Grand Champion Guide. The Top Fly Angler was Robert Balogh of Miami. Top Fly Guide honors were taken by Captain Brian Esposito. The Top Woman Angler was Jeana Schall.

The Tournament takes place each year during the second week of May. The 2013 event was once again be held at the beautiful Cheeca Lodge & Spa, in Islamorada, Florida.
